Paris Walking Tour : Ile de la Cité and Notre-Dame
The Ile de la Cité is the birthplace of Paris.
During your walk, you will go from one historic site to another, discovering first the so called « Pont Neuf », which happens to be the oldest bridge in the city!
Then, passing by the charming and quiet Place Dauphine, dating back to the early years of the 17th century, we see the former royal castle, housing today the Conciergerie, the Sainte-Chapelle and the Palais de Justice.
The climax of this tour is of course the visit of the famous cathedral Notre-Dame, gothic masterpiece where Napoleon crowned himself.
By the front of the façade, we step on the « point zero », departure point of all the national roads across France …
Behind this impressive church, a pedestrian bridge will lead us to the Ile Saint-Louis, offering the tranquility of sumptuous mansion houses and profusion of restaurants, cafés, ice cream makers and confectioners, whose tempting windows line the rue Saint-Louis en l’Ile.
