Ever since the mid 18th century, Saint-Germain-des-Prés district has regarded itself as being the Intellectual center of Paris. 

Our walk will lead us to one of the oldest Parisian restaurant, Le Procope, where philosophers, Benjamin Franklin, met on the eve of the French revolution. 

To remain in the same atmosphere we will pass by the street where Mr Guillotin gave his name to his funest creation « la guillotine ». 

In the deep of the district, we will think of the early 20th century when art and culture definitively settled in the area with Gertrude Stein, Hemingway, Picasso etc…

We certainly won’t forget J.P. Sartre and other « Existentialism » philosophers who were used to meet in the 1940’s and 1950’s in the cafés such as les Deux Magots, or le Flore, where at night the first jazz cellars came to light after having been shelters for the youth community during the war, Miles Davis, Juliette Gréco etc… 

Today, those cafés line out the district where numerous famous writers or thinkers still enjoy a drink on the colorfull terraces. 

But our visit will also include a walk around the oldest romanesque church in Paris, Saint-Germain-des-Prés, the quiet Furstemberg square and other typical old Streets, discovering art galeries, antiques dealers, fashion shops. 

Our last stop will be at Saint-Sulpice, the largest parish church in Paris, world-famous due to the novel « Da Vinci Code ».
